Eid al-Fitr is a time when families get together, exchange gifts and celebrate the end of the fast. It is a time characterised by peace, goodwill and sharing.
There's nothing quite like a refreshing glass of mango lassi on a hot summer's day. Luckily Uncle Manoj popped by last weekend and shared the following recipe. Enjoy!
Eid al-Fitr (The Festival of Breaking the Fast) is a time of sharing and thanking the Almighty for His many blessings during the holy month of fasting, Ramadan.
Last week I visited my friend Amina at her house in Overport, Durban. I’ve always known Amina to be a great cook – probably the best amongst my friends. I recall our campus days, when Amina would bring the most exotic lunch – samoosas, mince pies, sweetcorn springrolls, kebab and roti, poli, and butter chicken and pita bread. Amina always shared her lunch with us after we’d performed our Dhuhr salah (early afternoon prayer) in the campus JK (Jama`at Khana).
