Phoenix_Muslim_SchoolPhoenix Muslim School located in Durban, South Africa had reason to celebrate when its first class of grade 12 learners achieved a 100 percent pass rate in the 2009 Matric Examinations. Apart from being an historic milestone for the school, this singular achievement catapulted the status of the school; making it the only school in the Phoenix district to achieve a 100% pass rate.

The school, located on the Phoenix Highway in the Jumu`ah Masjid premises (22 Charclay Gardens, Clayfield, Phoenix), has been growing steadily since its inception in 1999, with its first group of matriculants (2009) achieving outstanding results.

The school has put into place strict controls and measures to ensure a comprehensive, efficient programme for its matric learners in 2010, commencing with free extra tuition classes daily.

Phoenix Muslim School caters for learners from Grades R to 12 in the Phoenix and surrounding areas. The school is registered with the Department of Education and Culture and is Umalusi compliant. It is driven by the Orient Old Boys’, whose vision it is to afford quality academic and Islamic education to the community. The school today stands as a three-storey building and aims to extend itself to accommodate more learners. It also aims to create separate boys’ and girls’ campuses.

Phoenix Muslim School has a large staff complement and is run by a Board made up of businessmen, professionals and ‘Ulama’ (Muslim theologians). Together, their efforts have helped ensure the development of both the learners and the school itself. For them, the defining moment has been the accolade received by the school in the 2009 matric exams.

Phoenix Muslim School was acknowledged by various sectors when it was awarded the Annual Mayoral Matric Awards Trophy and the Association of Muslim Schools’ (AMS - KZN) Award, for this remarkable achievement.
